I close my eyes and I can picture you walking up that Rainbow Bridge . . . but, ever my constant companion and protector, you look back to see if I will be ok . . . I will my dear old friend, because your spirit lives all around me! We will be reunited one day, I'm sure. Meanwhile, come back in spirit and visit me often.
I'm smiling now when I think of you - your loving eyes and your silky coat - and I'm remembering the good, fun times we had together; from the 8 weeks-old playful puppy you were, to the loyal loving old dog that prowled the kitchen looking for treats.
Toby, you were so much more than a dog to me - you were truly my soul mate in animal form. Thank you for the gift of your unconditional love and for giving me such happiness for the past 17 years. I have treasured your devotion and companionship, and I have grown richer as a human being for having you in my life. You were always there for me and Victoria - and you shared every happiness and heartache I had . . . My biggest heartache has been making the decision to have you put to sleep.
You will live on in my heart and memories, always and forever - bound eternally by a cord of love.
